How should irregular menstruation be handled?

Patient's question:

17-year-old cervical erosion-like changes, no inflammation. There is yellowish pus with occasional bloody discharge once or twice, and occasional lower back pain. Is it serious? Is it related to not having a menstrual period more than forty days after an abortion?

Doctor's answer:

Adolescent females, due to high estrogen levels, may repeatedly experience cervical pseudo-erosion, cervical canal columnar epithelial fibrosis, and regression of the old squamocolumnar junction, making the external os of the cervix appear red and granular, resembling erosion, which is a physiological cervical erosion. If cervical erosion is caused by chronic cervicitis, it may lead to recurrent yellow purulent leukorrhea, contact bleeding, and severe cases may be accompanied by lower back pain. Based on this speculation and your condition, it is still likely that the cervical erosion is the cause, with symptoms of leukorrhea with blood, lower back pain, and the absence of menstruation for over 40 days after an abortion, which is unrelated to cervical erosion.
