Is uterine fibroids serious?

Patient's question:

In 2006, uterine fibroids were detected. Currently, their sizes are 60x57x46, 27x22, and 18x11 (three in total). I am 43 years old now and experiencing lower abdominal bloating and pain, frequent urination, and dizziness. Since I have an IUD (Mirena), I haven't had a menstrual period. How should I be treated?

Doctor's answer:

Uterine fibroids are tumors that grow on the female uterus, consisting of benign nodules formed by abnormal fibrosis of the uterine smooth muscle tissue. They are generally common in women aged 30-50, with an incidence rate of 20%-25%. Since 40% of women with uterine fibroids are infertile, the removal of these fibroids can have a significant impact on a woman's future life, especially for young married women. In fact, if the fibroids are small and asymptomatic, they will not have a major impact on the body and usually do not require treatment, particularly for women who have reached menopause, as their estrogen levels are low, and the fibroids can naturally shrink or disappear.
