Features: This textbook is based on the teaching principles and content specified in the "Teaching Syllabus for German at Tongji University," and it also draws on the achievements of similar German textbooks and foreign language teaching methods both domestically and internationally. The book consists of eight units, each containing three texts, annotations, reading comprehension exercises, grammar and vocabulary exercises, translation, listening comprehension, a glossary, and a mini-quiz. At the end of the textbook, reference answers to the exercises of each unit are provided. This textbook can be used for follow-up courses after the third volume of "College German Course" and for German intensive training classes for overseas students. It can also be used by second-year German majors and individuals with a certain foundation in German for self-study. The textbook attempts to help students improve their ability to understand texts, narrate some charts based on the text content, and increase dialogue and discussion exercises. For example, some exercises after the texts ask students to arrange the titles of the given text paragraphs according to the content of the text, or to write their own subtitles for each paragraph, enabling students or readers to gain some practical experience in summarizing articles. In designing exercises, different forms of exercises are used to correspond to different situations. Exercises can be completed individually, in pairs, or in small groups. With the further strengthening of cooperation between China and Germany in politics, economy, culture, and especially in science and technology, an increasing number of college students are choosing German as a second language, and many are eager to learn and master German better. The popular science articles selected for this textbook and the exercises arranged aim to help students with a basic foundation in German to further understand and familiarize themselves with the characteristics of German grammar and vocabulary in science and technology, thereby broadening their knowledge and improving their German reading ability for future work or further studies in Germany. This will enable them to better and faster understand and grasp the latest trends in German and global technological development.
