How to treat pregnancy with pelvic inflammatory disease

Patient's question:

In the hospital, after a thorough examination, it was discovered that I had pelvic inflammatory disease. I had always been working and hadn't had children. Now that I want to have children, I've developed this condition.

Doctor's answer:

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is divided into acute and chronic forms. The former has a rapid onset and usually has obvious causes. If treated promptly, thoroughly, and effectively, it is often curable. When acute inflammation is not completely treated, it can transform into chronic PID. However, more often, it develops slowly with mild symptoms that go unnoticed, leading to delayed treatment and the progression to chronic PID. This type of pelvic inflammatory disease often causes infertility in women. Chronic PID is commonly characterized by bilateral tubal inflammation. Over time, the openings of the fallopian tubes, especially the part that receives the egg, may partially or completely close. It can also cause adhesions in the inner lining of the fallopian tubes due to inflammation, narrowing or blocking the lumen.
