Will the period not come be an ectopic pregnancy?

Patient's question:

Between January 20th and February 3rd, there was cohabitation. My period arrived around January 10th, and then again on February 4th. However, I haven't had my period since March, and I'm very worried. Last June, I had an IUD inserted, and ultrasounds in September last year and February this year confirmed that the IUD position was good. But I haven't had my period, and I'm wondering if it could be an ectopic pregnancy?

Doctor's answer:

You can have a blood test to check for hCG, which is a relatively accurate way to determine if you are pregnant. After ruling out pregnancy, you can take progesterone to regulate your menstrual cycle.
If a patient is affected by ectopic pregnancy, we should actively conduct thorough examinations and treatments, and avoid delaying medical consultation. If ectopic pregnancy does not improve with treatment, it is important to change the treatment plan promptly. Also, don’t scare yourself—there is a possibility that it could just be a delayed period or pregnancy.
