To better serve the frontline teaching of "English (New Standard)" and help students consolidate classroom knowledge while improving their language proficiency, we have developed the "English Second Classroom" learning series as supplementary material for extracurricular study. The outstanding features of this series are its fun, practicality, and developmental nature.
Each book in the "English Second Classroom" series contains 12 lessons: 10 teaching lessons and 2 review lessons (including 2 comprehensive practice papers). Each teaching lesson is divided into 6 parts:
(1) A Playroom (Little Theater): Short plays are used to present the vocabulary and sentence patterns from the corresponding modules of "English (New Standard)," helping students consolidate what they have learned in class and reflecting the textbook's practicality in catering to all students and foundational learning. The rich language scenarios also expand opportunities for students to use language and effectively stimulate their interest in learning. At the same time, to meet students' needs for self-improvement, each play appropriately adds 4-6 new words and sentence patterns, demonstrating the textbook's developmental nature.
(2) A Broadcasting (Studio): Engaging and lively English songs or rhymes are used to reinforce the vocabulary and sentences students have learned. The songs and rhymes, which are written and selected in conjunction with the main teaching content, not only enliven the classroom atmosphere but also help students improve their English pronunciation.
(3) A DIY Workshop (Craft Workshop): Students are guided to engage in simple hands-on activities, allowing them to learn and use language through doing. The new words and sentences that appear in the activities can be selected for further study.
(4) Climbing Club (Rock Climbing Club): Listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills are tested according to the teaching objectives, providing exercises to help students master and consolidate the main knowledge and skills of the lesson. The exercises are lively and engaging, allowing students to assess whether they have grasped the key and challenging points of the lesson.
(5) A Kaleidoscope (Magic Mirror): Traditional cultures and customs of Eastern and Western countries are introduced, gradually cultivating students' cross-cultural awareness and broadening their horizons. The new words and sentences introduced can be selected for further study.
(6) A Nice House (Treasure House): Each lesson introduces one Chinese zodiac animal, and after 12 lessons, students will have a complete understanding of the order of Chinese zodiac animals. The book also includes a cassette, which is designed for use by teachers and students.
