Features: Modern English Course (Volumes 1-4) is a teaching material specifically designed for non-English major junior college students in adult higher education in China. Over the past three years since its publication, it has been adopted by many adult education colleges and continuing education institutions across the country, receiving unanimous praise. To facilitate the more effective use of this course material and help students better master its content and knowledge points, we have organized teachers from Beijing Foreign Studies University, Renmin University of China, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Jiangnan University, and North China Aerospace University to compile the Modern English Course Supplementary Book. Corresponding to the main textbook, this supplementary series is also divided into 4 volumes, with each volume containing 10 units. Each unit is divided into 6 parts: Text Analysis, Reading Material Analysis, Grammar Practice, Writing and Translation, Reference Answers and Translations, and Synchronized Enhanced Training. The first five parts provide further explanations and exercises closely tied to the textbook content. The last part consists of simulated tests designed according to the question types of the English unified proficiency examination, aiming to train students in the flexible application of their knowledge. Another distinctive feature of this supplementary series is that all the example sentences and exercises in the book are sourced from the English corpus built by the Research and Development Center of the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, making them authentic and natural English. This is not only a valuable exploration of using corpora in teaching material development but also a key differentiator from other supplementary books, enabling students to encounter more vibrant and authentic English.
