Is there a risk of a second ectopic pregnancy?

Patient's question:

I feel uncomfortable, so I want to ask a doctor. Is there still a risk of a second ectopic pregnancy?

Doctor's answer:

Hello! Ectopic pregnancy is most commonly tubal pregnancy. After tubal pregnancy, 10% of patients may develop another tubal pregnancy, and 50-60% may suffer from secondary infertility. Chronic tubal inflammation is the main cause of ectopic pregnancy. For ectopic pregnancy patients who are advised to conceive after surgery, active treatment of pelvic inflammation should still be carried out. Before pregnancy, tubal patency tests should be performed to prevent recurrence of ectopic pregnancy.
