The initial print run of 5,000 sets was in high demand, requiring a second print run of 6,000 sets in October. Publishing such a large-scale collection of linguistic works within such a short period is rare in the history of academic publishing in China. Since its publication, many institutions and individuals have eagerly ordered the collection. Graduate and undergraduate students regard the Collection as a valuable guide, while teachers of all ages view it as a source of knowledge renewal. Practical evidence shows that the Collection, launched by FLTRP, has received widespread acclaim from the Chinese linguistics and foreign language teaching communities. It will become a treasure trove for advancing linguistic teaching, research, foreign language teaching, and applied linguistics in China. Building on the success of the first 54 titles, FLTRP is now introducing the second series of 58 titles. The second series of the Collection features five key characteristics:
1. Comprising 58 original English-language works, the series now covers 33 disciplines, an increase from the first series' 26. The newly added disciplines include the history of linguistics, philosophy of language, cognitive linguistics, anthropological linguistics, the origins of language, and grammaticalization theory, thereby meeting a broader range of readers' needs;
2. Including influential works by renowned linguists such as Saussure, Sapir, Bloomfield, Halliday, Chomsky, Austin, Grice, and Leech, the series maintains higher authority;
3. Adding classic linguistic works published by world-renowned publishers such as Oxford University Press and Harvard University Press;
4. Retaining expert introductions, with an even stronger team of experts than the first series;
5. Prefaced by the world-famous linguist Professor Noam Chomsky and the renowned Chinese linguist Professor Jiaxuan Shen.
This Collection is a large-scale, open-ended series that will actively promote linguistic teaching, research, foreign language teaching, and applied linguistics in China. In the future, FLTRP will continue to introduce the latest and most influential works in linguistics and applied linguistics, constantly offering them to a broad readership.
