Features: The first 54 titles of the "Contemporary Collection of Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics" have achieved great success since their release in September 2000. The initial print run of 5,000 sets was in high demand, requiring a second print run of 6,000 sets in October. Publishing such a large-scale collection of linguistic works within such a short period is rare in the history of academic publishing in China. Since its publication, many institutions and individuals have rushed to order it. Graduate and undergraduate students regard the Collection as a valuable guide, while teachers of all ages consider it a source of knowledge renewal. Practice has proven that the Collection, launched by FLTRP, has been widely praised by the domestic linguistic and foreign language teaching communities. It will become a treasure trove for advancing linguistic teaching, research, foreign language teaching, and applied linguistics in China. Building on the success of the first 54 titles, FLTRP is now introducing the second batch of 58 titles. The second batch of the Collection features five key characteristics:
1. Comprising 58 original English works, it covers 33 disciplines, an increase from the first batch's 26, including newly added fields such as the history of linguistics, philosophy of language, cognitive linguistics, anthropological linguistics, the origins of language, and chemical grammar theories, thereby meeting broader reader needs;
2. Including influential works by contemporary linguistic masters such as Saussure, Sapir, Bloomfield, Halliday, Chomsky, Austin, Grice, and Leech, ensuring higher authority;
3. Adding classic linguistic works published by renowned international publishers such as Oxford University Press and Harvard University Press;
4. Retaining expert introductions, with an even stronger team of experts than the first batch;
5. Prefaced by the world-renowned linguist Professor Noam Chomsky and the distinguished Chinese linguist Professor Jiaxuan Shen.
This Collection is a large-scale, open-ended series that will actively promote linguistic teaching, research, foreign language teaching, and applied linguistics in China. In the future, FLTRP will continue to introduce the latest and most influential works in linguistics and applied linguistics, constantly offering them to a broad readership.
