Will candidiasis cause pain in the lower abdomen?

Patient's question:

At 14 weeks of pregnancy, a thorough examination of the discharge revealed candidiasis (yeast infection). There is abdominal pain, but it is not severe and not persistent. Could this abdominal pain be caused by the candidiasis?

Doctor's answer:

Generally, there is no case where moldy vaginal inflammation can cause lower abdominal pain. If you currently have only mild lower abdominal pain without vaginal bleeding, it may be due to ligament traction. You can use Nystatin suppositories for local treatment in the vagina. Pay attention to hygiene, avoid sexual activity during treatment, and also maintain cleanliness of the external genital area. Avoid washing the external genital area with soap; try to restrain scratching and friction of the affected area, avoid spicy foods, and be mindful of avoiding emotional fluctuations.
