The exercises primarily focus on sentence patterns, encouraging students to freely substitute learned vocabulary. A large number of exercises ensure mastery of the language phenomena and usage methods covered. The book also includes sentence composition and translation exercises, aiming to provide comprehensive training in the fundamental language skills of "listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translation." The entire book contains over 1,100 new words.
