Features: This book collects knowledge and research findings on ancient Chinese social life, covering a wide range of categories such as cities, rural areas, population, ethnic groups, law, marriage, and more. It includes over 8,470 entries and more than 379 illustrations. For person entries, the given name is generally used as the main entry, while some entries follow historical book conventions. For entries with multiple meanings, they are listed under (1), (2), (3), and in the text, (1), (2), (3) are used for itemization. The font used in this dictionary follows the "General Table of Simplified Characters" and the "Table for Standardizing Variant Characters." However, for some simplified characters and selected characters that may be easily misunderstood, traditional characters and variant characters are annotated in parentheses. For academic disputes, if a conclusion has been reached, it is presented as such; if no conclusion has been reached, the main view is presented, with multiple views included. The translation of foreign names and place names follows common usage, with some retaining old translations based on convention. Centuries and years before the Common Era are preceded by "B.C.E." Chinese historical dates are generally annotated with the Common Era equivalent. Arabic numerals are used as much as possible, while proper nouns, idioms, or some conventional expressions are written in Chinese. At the end of the main text of this dictionary, a stroke index is provided for readers' reference.
