Features: With the continuous reform of college English teaching across the country, textbooks, as an important aspect of the reform, are facing new challenges. To adapt to this situation, various versions of textbooks have been successively introduced nationwide to meet the teaching needs of different levels of college foreign language education. Among them, the "College English" series published by Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press has been favored by a broad range of teachers, students, and English learners since its launch in 1996. It has been adopted by over a thousand institutions and remains the preferred textbook for universities, vocational colleges, and adult education in China. The textbook has won the First Prize of the National Higher Education Second Outstanding Textbook Award and the First Prize of the Ministry of Education Higher Education Second Outstanding Textbook Award. In particular, the publication of the revised edition in 1997 significantly improved the textbook in terms of both linguistic knowledge and practicality. After years of comparative research on various textbooks and teaching experience, the editors have found that at the current stage, the "College English" series, whether in terms of its scope of use or the quality of the textbook, remains unmatched by other textbooks. To complement the learning and teaching of the "College English" intensive reading textbook (revised edition), and to help students assess whether they have mastered the fundamental language knowledge and achieved the corresponding levels during their "College English" studies, we have compiled this series of "Beijing Foreign Studies University Master Tips" books, which include six volumes of "College English Unit Tracking Assessment." This series has the following features:
1. Broad Coverage and Wide Applicability
The "Beijing Foreign Studies University Master Tips" series fills the gap in the market where there is an overwhelming number of TOEIC and CET-4/6 preparation books but a lack of materials for other levels of English proficiency tests. This series allows students using the "College English" textbook or various English learners to assess themselves at each level. Through the tests, they can understand their achievements and shortcomings, enabling them to focus their efforts and strive for greater progress.
2. Targeted Tests for Each Unit, Exercises Aligned with the Course
The series is designed based on the units of the "College English" textbook. Each volume corresponds to one unit and includes a set of tests. The exercises in each test are closely tied to the unit's theme, background knowledge, and language points. Completing a set of tests not only helps assess language proficiency but also reinforces learned knowledge, thereby further improving foreign language skills.
3. Well-Structured Tests with Flexible and Diverse Question Types
The tests for each unit consist of two major categories: achievement tests and proficiency tests. The difficulty level of the questions is balanced, and the length is appropriate. This series is suitable for all college students and English learners using the "College English" series textbooks. It can also serve as self-assessment tools for various English proficiency levels and as intensive practice materials for preparing for English exams at different levels.
We sincerely hope that students and English learners will provide valuable feedback and suggestions while using this series.
