Often, people tell me, "Japanese skin is truly beautiful!" "Wow! Japanese foundation works so well!" But please pay attention: although Japanese skin is generally good, it cannot be solely attributed to Japanese cosmetics. It is simply that Japanese people carefully select beneficial and high-quality products when using cosmetics. In Japan, between 1976 and 1977, news about "cosmetic pollution" was frequently reported in newspapers. This was because cosmetics often caused skin abnormalities or physical harm, and victims often gathered to file lawsuits against cosmetic companies. Most women use cosmetics without giving it much thought, following their own methods. In this book, we aim to highlight that many people meticulously take care of their faces, yet paradoxically develop numerous dark spots and freckles in the frequently moisturized areas (especially the cheeks). The areas that are not moisturized, such as the neck, often have whiter and more beautiful skin than the face. The book describes that among those in their 20s, one in two people has dark spots, while among those in their 30s and 40s, eight out of ten people have dark spots. In contrast to women in their 30s and 40s, women in their 50s have fewer dark spots. This is because women in their 50s, having stopped using cosmetics, allow the skin's natural physiological functions to awaken.
