Selected Poems of Gumilev

Author: GUMILEV (Russia)
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2003-05-01
Features: Looking back at the publication of foreign poetry in China in the 20th century, we can clearly see that the translation of poems has always been in a scattered and non-systematic state. We are publishing this series, "20th Century World Poetry Translation Collection," precisely to change this situation. We hope to contribute our modest efforts to fill a gap in China's publishing industry, thereby constructing a long corridor of the 20th-century world poetry history in Chinese and providing a complete picture of 20th-century poetry. This translation series plans to include fifty volumes, divided into five series, with ten volumes per series. Gumilev is rich in romantic passion, and his mastery of artistic form and technique is widely recognized. His poems are mostly exquisite in form, vivid in imagery, highly expressive in language, and harmonious in rhythm and rhyme. Especially his unique metaphors leave a deep impression on readers. His poems depict navigation, love, Russia, and foreign customs, reflecting his love for "land and sea." He never engaged in politics but became a victim of politics.
