Ancient Chinese Village: Xiwengxing Village

Features: Xiwencun, a bloodline village descended from the descendants of the great Tang Dynasty litterateur Liu Zongyuan who moved from Hedong, has endured through numerous wars and periods of rise and decline, yet still struggles to uphold the tradition of scholarly heritage for generations. Xiwencun is located within Qinshui County, Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province. During our investigation of Guoyucun in Yangcheng, we revisited Xiwencun again. The small village remained as tranquil as ever. Unlike last autumn, the corn and persimmons hanging on the residential railings and eaves had all been stored indoors, and several residential courtyards appeared even more orderly. The wood carvings covering the upper and lower floors were more vividly revealed in the sunlight of early spring.
