Patient's question:
When I went to the hospital for a thorough examination, the doctor asked me to undergo tubal contrast examination, but I'm not sure what this thorough examination and tubal contrast examination are.Doctor's answer:
Hysterosalpingography (HSG) involves injecting iodinated contrast dye directly into the uterine cervix to fill the uterine cavity, which then flows into the fallopian tubes. Under X-ray imaging, it helps assess the patency of the uterine cavity and fallopian tubes. The primary purpose of fallopian tube imaging is to determine how the tubes are (patent). If abnormalities are present, HSG can clearly identify the location, size of inflammation, and the size of the uterine cavity. HSG generally has few side effects.
