Is ectopic pregnancy accompanied by nausea?

Patient's question:

I've been feeling quite nauseous these past couple of days, but it doesn't feel like a normal pregnancy. Is it possible to have nausea with an ectopic pregnancy?

Doctor's answer:

Whether it is an intrauterine early pregnancy or an ectopic early pregnancy, the hormone levels in the body will decline, so early pregnancy symptoms may reappear to varying degrees. However, nausea alone cannot be used to confirm an ectopic pregnancy. In necessary cases, an abdominal MRI should be performed to examine whether there is a gestational sac structure within the uterine cavity. It can also be confirmed by monitoring changes in hormone levels in the body.
