Features: The non-fictional nature of reportage determines that reality not only serves as a backdrop for writing but also becomes the direct object of the writing. The author's selection of reportage subjects and their interpretation of their implications are all influenced by specific historical contexts. The unique cultural ecology of society fundamentally shapes the direction of reportage writing, while reportage also participates in constructing the social and cultural ecology in a special way. There is a certain interplay between cultural ecology and reportage. Based on this understanding, I have chosen cultural ecology as an optimal perspective for observing the evolution of Chinese reportage. What I aim to do is to place the reportage that has become history within its historical context. In the process of returning to history and touching it, I seek to restore a certain historical authenticity of reportage's existence. This book is based on a doctoral dissertation and was compressed and revised according to the general requirements of The Three Review. The doctoral dissertation embodies the dedication of my supervisor, Professor Fan Peisong.
