Can an ovarian cyst be detected during pregnancy check?

Patient's question:

I had an abortion surgery before March 24th. My period came on April 21st, and it hasn't arrived yet. I don't have abdominal pain, but I feel a bit uncomfortable. I don't feel it when walking or training, but when lying in bed, I do feel uncomfortable. It's just a slight sensation, and I don't feel it when standing or walking. Could I have pelvic inflammatory disease?

Doctor's answer:

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) refers to an infection of the uterus (uterus), fallopian tubes (tubes connecting the uterus and ovaries), and other reproductive organs, causing symptoms such as lower abdominal pain. This is often a complication of many sexually transmitted infections (STIs), particularly severe ones like chlamydia and gonorrhea. It can damage nearby structures, including the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and surrounding tissues. It may lead to serious consequences, including infertility, ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy outside the fallopian tubes or elsewhere in the uterus), the formation of abscesses, and chronic pelvic pain. Prompt treatment is recommended, with the best approach being a combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine. This method avoids the development of drug resistance and yields better treatment outcomes.
