Author: (Italian) Antonio Vivaldi
Publisher:
Publication Date: 2003-04-01
Features: These six cello sonatas by Vivaldi were printed in Paris around 1740. An advertisement for these scores was first published in the Mercure de France in December 1740. Pancheri proposed that this is Vivaldi's Op. 16. Vivaldi's contemporary documents mention Op. 16 several times, but this work remained unknown for a long time. The original title was: Six Sonatas for Solo Cello and Continuo by Antonio Vivaldi, from the New Works of the Venetian Violinist and Concerto Master. Thanks to the generous loan of a first edition score by the late French musicologist and expert on music from the Vivaldi era, Henry Prunières, we were able to prepare this new edition based on the original.
