Features: Violin Concerto in A minor, Op. 53, composed in 1879, was created for the famous violinist Joachim. Its three movements:
1. Moderately fast allegro, the main theme at the beginning consists of two parts: after a theme played by the full orchestra with a bell and drum rhythm, there is a dance-like motif played by the solo violin. After some moving phrases, a coda played by the violin and orchestra connects to the adagio movement.
2. Moderately slow adagio, the solo violin begins with a tranquil arched melody to develop the movement. The violin showcases various technical contrasts in the passionate intermediate section in F minor. This movement ends with the poetic reprise of the opening melody.
3. Joyful allegro, not too fast. This final movement has a folk-like quality and stylistic resemblance to Dvo?ák's Slavonic Dances. It begins with a theme played by the solo violin in a syncopated style, resembling a Czech furiant dance melody. This melody repeats repeatedly, with a rondo theme appearing each time, played by a different instrument.
