Features: The independence of sketch as an art form emerged after the Renaissance. People realized that sketch not only possessed its own aesthetic value but also served as the best method for training abilities. In sketch training, still-life sketching is considered the "basic course" of training because still-life objects are relatively static, making them easier for beginners to observe and master. From a morphological perspective, everything in the world is a result of transitioning from simple geometric forms to complex forms, and still-life objects are the most direct and simplest representation of geometric forms. Therefore, still-life sketching is an essential part of painting and sculpture training, serving as a "bridge" to the art of painting, and is also a frequently encountered exam topic in art college entrance exams. Its fundamental significance lies in acquiring various techniques for depicting shapes during the process of sketching, training the coordination of eyes, brain, and hands, improving shape-grasping skills, mastering the proportions of forms, and finding the best "approach" to creating space and shaping the texture of objects in a painting. Currently, many candidates' basic painting education is received through short-term pre-exam training classes. The entire training process is highly goal-oriented, with everything focused on passing the exam, lacking the necessary systematic approach. In response to this situation, after carefully studying and understanding the teaching syllabi and curriculum standards issued by the National Ministry of Education in recent years, and drawing on the latest research findings in art education, we have compiled this book suitable for young painting enthusiasts. Its purpose is to help young friends gain a correct understanding of some basic concepts, artistic forms, and expressive methods of sketching, thereby addressing certain issues encountered in sketching learning and art college entrance exams. This book is divided into 10 volumes, starting from the simplest geometric shapes and still-life objects, progressing to plaster sculptures and portraits, and finally introducing some exam-related content. According to the basic principles of art learning, through introducing professional knowledge on using lines and shading to depict objects, the book presents various topics and exercises in an easy-to-understand, step-by-step manner, emphasizing the systematic and standardized nature of learning. This helps young friends and painting enthusiasts master basic painting knowledge and skills, cultivate their interest in sketching, break free from purely exam-oriented training as quickly as possible, avoid unnecessary detours, and lay a solid foundation for an early career in the art world.
