Features: The Chinese nation is one of the most passionate about collecting. Throughout history, there have been many renowned collectors. Since the reform and opening-up, a nationwide "collecting fever" has swept across China. However, collecting is an art, and even seasoned collectors can sometimes fall victim to scams. Nowadays, not only are fakes of calligraphy, paintings, and antiques rampant in the market, but even auctions are occasionally plagued by counterfeit items, which is indeed a headache for collectors.
Given this, we have compiled and published this series of "Bao Fo Jiao" books, divided into two sub-series: "Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Identification." This series particularly emphasizes "practicality" and "operationality," aiming to provide genuine assistance to avid collectors. All the authors of this series are not only research experts but also "collectors" and "enthusiasts," with practical experience in their respective fields. They have all "found hidden gems" in their areas of expertise, and some of the works featured in the books are even their personal collections.
Mr. Jin Shen, the author of Identification of Tibetan Buddhist Statues, is a researcher at the Art Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Arts and a renowned expert in Buddhist statue studies. This book systematically introduces the origins, schools, and styles of Tibetan Buddhist statues, serving as a compact reference tool for identifying them. It will be immensely helpful for collectors of Buddhist statues.
In the past, teachers often criticized those who didn’t pay attention in class but crammed for exams at the last minute as "making a last-minute prayer to Buddha." So, does "making a last-minute prayer to Buddha" actually work? It probably does, because most people have indeed passed exams this way. In collecting, the same principle may apply—but the key is to pray to the right "Buddha’s foot," not to cling to others. Our books are the "Bao Fo Jiao" series, and we are indeed "praying to the right Buddha’s foot."
As the saying goes, "Don’t burn incense to Buddha until you’re in trouble; with the 'Bao Fo Jiao' series, your treasures won’t run away." Believe it or not, this is true. If you are passionate about collecting, why not give our books a try and "make a last-minute prayer to Buddha"?
