Features: The Chinese nation is one of the most passionate about collecting in the world. Throughout history, there have been many renowned collectors. Since the reform and opening-up, a nationwide "collecting fever" has swept across China. However, collecting is an art, and even seasoned collectors can sometimes fall victim to scams. Nowadays, not only are fakes and counterfeits of calligraphy, paintings, and antiques rampant in the market, but they also frequently appear at auctions, posing a real headache for collectors. Based on this, we have compiled and published this "Baofojiao Series," divided into two series: "Identification of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting" and "Identification of Bamboo and Wood Carvings." This series particularly emphasizes "practicality" and "operationality," aiming to provide genuine help to collectors. All the authors of this series are not only research experts but also "collectors" and "enthusiasts," with practical experience in their respective fields. They have all "found treasures" in their areas of expertise, and some of the works featured in the books are even their own collections.
The author of Identification of Bamboo and Wood Carvings, Mr. Tang Zhaoji, is a renowned calligrapher, seal carver, and editor-in-chief of Shanghai Arts and Crafts. He has long been engaged in the study of ancient arts and crafts. Although this book is not extensively written, it embodies decades of his research insights, concise yet profound, making it an excellent guide and companion for bamboo and wood carving collectors.
In the past, teachers often criticized those who neglected classes but crammed for exams as "last-minute Baofojiao" (making a last-minute prayer to Buddha). But does "last-minute Baofojiao" actually work? It probably does, because most people have indeed passed exams this way. In collecting, it's likely the same—provided you're holding onto the right "Baofojiao," not some other "foot." Our book is the "Baofojiao Series," and we are indeed holding onto the "Baofojiao."
As the saying goes, "Don't burn incense every day; pray to Buddha at the last minute." With the "Baofojiao Series," your treasures won't run away. Believe it or not, this is true. If you're passionate about collecting, why not buy a set and give "Baofojiao" a try?
