Features: The Chinese nation is one of the most passionate about collecting. Throughout history, there have been many renowned collectors. Since the reform and opening-up, a nationwide "collecting fever" has swept across China. However, collecting is an art in itself. Even seasoned collectors can sometimes fall victim to scams. Nowadays, not only are forgeries of calligraphy, painting, and antiques rampant in the market, but even auctions are occasionally plagued by fake works. This is indeed a challenging issue for collectors. In light of this, we have compiled and published this series of "Baofojiao" books, divided into two subseries: "Identification of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting" and "Identification of Chinese Antiques." This series particularly emphasizes "practicality" and "operationality," aiming to provide tangible assistance to avid collectors. All the authors of this series are not only research experts but also "collectors" and "enthusiasts," with practical experience in their respective fields. They have all "found hidden gems" in their areas of expertise, and some of the works featured in the books are even their own collections.
The author of Identification of Wu Changshuo is Mr. Ding Xiyuan, currently a researcher at Shanghai Art Museum, a painter at Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy, and the secretary-general of the Wu Changshuo Art Research Association. He is a renowned art theorist and calligrapher and painter. Although this book is not overly detailed, its insights are profound and engaging, serving as a key to unlocking the art of Wu Changshuo. Particularly valuable are the "Timeline of the Common Seal Impressions Used in Wu Changshuo's Calligraphy and Painting" and the "Table for Identifying Wu Changshuo's Seal Impressions and Inscriptions," which play a crucial role in authenticating his works.
