Does treating cervical erosion affect fertility?

Patient's question:

After giving birth to my first child, I had a thorough examination at the hospital, and they said I had mild cervical erosion. It has been getting worse now, and I am planning to get treated. However, over the past two years, my partner and I have been discussing the idea of having another child. So, I would like to ask the doctor if treating cervical erosion interferes with fertility.

Doctor's answer:

Cervical erosion does not necessarily require treatment. If there are no symptoms in daily life, and cervical liquid-based cytology tests as well as HPV tests are normal, it indicates that cervical erosion is merely the regression of cervical columnar epithelium, and it can be left to nature. If there are symptoms such as excessive vaginal discharge, odor, or skin breakdown after sexual intercourse due to cervical erosion, treatment can be considered. Cervical treatment generally does not interfere with future conception.
