How could it be an ectopic pregnancy?

Patient's question:

How can ectopic pregnancy occur? Can a color ultrasound examination detect ectopic pregnancy accurately? At what stage of ectopic pregnancy should the child be terminated?

Doctor's answer:

Ectopic pregnancy is generally caused by the narrowing or blockage of the fallopian tubes. Apart from that, it could be due to poor quality of the fertilized egg formed after the sperm and egg combine, which cannot implant in the uterus and remains in the fallopian tube. Other reasons include poor uterine environment, such as very thin endometrium, among others. These issues are primarily caused by lifestyle and dietary habits or individual constitution. Gynecological inflammation is also more prone to occur. Generally, the earlier ectopic pregnancy is identified, the better it is to undergo surgery or aggressive treatment.
