When Dori was very young, he and his sister Coco were adopted by Potato Dad and Potato Mom... But as he grew older, the differences with his companions became bigger and bigger, and annoying feelings of inferiority slowly crept into his heart. From then on, Dori only wore red clothes to be like a Potato; to become the best Potato, he made a series of zany actions.
The protagonist Dori of "Dori's Growing Pains" is a small Potato. When he was a baby, he and his sister Coco were adopted by Potato Parents from an orphanage and came to Potato Village. He wanted to be the best Potato, but as he grew older, Dori began to notice that he and his sister were different from the other Potato companions—all Potatoes turn red when they grow up, while they kept getting yellower. Dori was very troubled and tried many ways to change himself, but nothing worked. As he tried to change himself, many stories happened in his life in Potato Village: from hoping to change his identity through legends, to suspecting he was rejected and running away from home; from realizing his own abilities and working to pay for a genetic conversion surgery, to thinking working was too slow and joining a marathon competition; from winning a first kiss from a Potato girl with sincerity, to winning a soccer match victory by working together. Dori went through a growth process of doubting himself, denying himself, believing in himself, and becoming a true man. In this process, his parents' love, his friends' friendship, and sweet love intertwined, shaping a vivid and lifelike Potato character.
