Features: [Usage] Regular decoction. [] According to Guan Hongmao in the Hunan Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine (1995, Issue 4): For treating lung cancer with lymphatic metastasis, remove Fritillaria cirrhosa, Achyranthes bidentata, and Glycyrrhiza uralensis, and add Curcuma zedoaria, Atractylodes macrocephala, Scutellaria barbata, and Oldenlandia japonica. [] This formula is derived from the modified Sini San (Four Gentian Powder) for soothing the liver and regulating qi, combined with the modified Taohong Siwu Tang (Four Gentian Decoction) for promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. It fully reflects the characteristics of balancing qi and blood, nourishing while resolving stasis, and promoting both ascending and descending functions. Wang Qingren referred to the upper part of the diaphragm as the "Blood" (Blood). Later generations, based on the view in Suwen·Pian Yao Jing Wei Lun ("Pulse is the house of blood"), considered any area where blood circulates as the "Blood," thereby expanding the scope of this formula. Some also believe that this formula can be used for chronic, difficult-to-treat conditions with an upper (head to hypochondria) location or pronounced symptoms in the afternoon or evening, classified as (excess patterns) or (internal patterns). In summary, satisfactory efficacy can only be achieved when the pattern differentiation confirms the presence of "blood stasis" in the pathological process. If qi stagnation occurs before menstruation, add Cyperus rotundus, Fructus mume, and Pericarpium ziziphi. For severe blood stasis or heavy menstrual bleeding, add Hirudo and Salvia miltiorrhiza. For treating ovarian cysts, use this formula with Bupleuri Radix, Fructus aurantii, Cyperus rotundus, Kelp, Ostrea, Galli Gali, and Crataegus. For prolonged bleeding, heavy menstrual flow, and dizziness, add Lindera aggregata and Polygonum aviculare. For qi deficiency and poor appetite, add Astragalus membranaceus and Codonopsis pilosula. After the cyst disappears, switch to formulas that tonify qi and blood and nourish the spleen and kidneys. [] Wang Qingren created this formula based on the warming of meridians from Jin Gui, combined with modified Shixiao San. It has long been used to treat various gynecological diseases, such as dysmenorrhea and amenorrhea due to (deficiency of Chong and Ren meridians) and blood stasis obstruction, as well as chronic adnexitis, pelvic inflammation, uterine fibroids, and ovarian cysts caused by (cold congealing in meridians) and blood stasis retention, with significant efficacy. For treating lung cancer, stomach cancer, and esophageal cancer, add Semen Strychni, Dentalium, Loxosceles, and Venenum Bufonis. [] Breast cancer is known as "ruan yan" in traditional Chinese medicine. It is caused by qi stagnation, phlegm accumulation, and blood stasis in the breast. Therefore, in the early stage, Xiaoyao San is used to regulate qi, and then modified Xihuang Pills are used to clear heat, detoxify, resolve phlegm, and soften masses. During medication, Danggui Buxue Tang is taken to tonify qi and blood and support the body. Longqu and Banzhilian are added to enhance anticancer effects. In the later stage, Ren Shen Jian Pi Wan is used to nourish the heart and spleen, invigorate qi, and nourish blood to restore health. Pharmacological studies have confirmed that Xihuang Pills can inhibit the growth of sarcoma 180 and have antibacterial effects on drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Flyingsand: 18–30g
White common figwort: 6–10g
Cardamom: 6–10g
Bamboo leaves: 6–10g
Magnolia bark: 6–10g

Currently used to treat abdominal metastasis after gastric cancer resection, patients with weak constitution and weight loss who cannot undergo chemotherapy, and afternoon fever after colon cancer surgery. [Usage] Regular decoction. [] Often use this formula without bamboo leaves and flyingsand, adding Codonopsis pilosula, Poria, Atractylodes macrocephala, Licorice, Astragalus membranaceus, and Galli Gali. For afternoon fever after colon cancer surgery due to damp-heat obstruction, remove common figwort and flyingsand, and add Pogostemon cablin, Poria cocos, Atractylodes macrocephala, Citrus reticulata, Perilla frutescens, and Nelumbinis Folium. [] Wu believed that dampness is an (yin pathogen) with heavy, turbid, and sticky properties, easily obstructing qi flow and damaging yang. This formula has the characteristics of promoting the upper, resolving the middle, and eliminating the lower, achieving the effect of treating all three levels of the body. Modern physicians, guided by Wu's ideas, have fully developed this formula. Clinically, regardless of the disease, as long as dampness is the primary symptom, such as internal dampness closure, phlegm-dampness obstruction, damp-turbidity blocking meridians and causing poor qi flow, or (disorder of ascending and descending functions) due to water-dampness stagnation, or damp-turbidity disturbing the clear orifices, preventing clear yang from rising, or damp-heat descending and causing unclear differentiation between clear and turbid, etc., this formula can be used. However, it should be avoided for yin deficiency with insufficient body fluids or yin deficiency fever, and used with caution for cases where heat is more severe than dampness.
