The original materials of this book come from the Zhuang folk traditions in Baise City, Youjiang District, Tianyang, Tiandong, Napo, and Bama, Donglan, and Daxu counties in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, as well as in Xichou County in Yunnan Province, totaling 29 handwritten manuscripts. Each manuscript is self-contained and belongs to 8 volumes.

Each volume of this book is divided into two parts: one is the photocopied part of the original manuscript, printed vertically, and read from right to left; the other is the translated and annotated part of the original manuscript, printed horizontally, and read from left to right. The two parts are bound together as a single volume with double covers.
3. This book is one of the foundational material projects of the Zhuang Studies Series. The list of editorial committee members, preface, and general rules of the series are placed before the translated and annotated part of the first volume. The postscript of this book is placed after the translated and annotated part of the eighth volume.
4. The table of contents of the entire book is placed in the first volume, with corresponding page numbers for both the photocopied and translated and annotated parts. Each volume has its own table of contents, with the first-level headings listing the names of each manuscript, and the second-level headings listing the titles of each chapter.
