Features: For many years, my interest in-style writing has never faded. When the urge to "write" strikes, it naturally leans toward essays. I never imagined I would observe American society, so different from my own, up close and personally. Once I began interacting with it, the so-called cultural shock, the similarities and differences in values, and the psychological conflicts of being a second-generation immigrant who is often passively cast as an "outsider" made me constantly adjust and examine my own mindset and emotions while observing and experiencing America. Or to put it another way, as I continuously adjusted my mindset and emotions, my observations and reflections on America gradually deepened and broadened. My experiences often sparked my thoughts, which found their way onto paper as the essays collected in this volume, most of which can be categorized as essays.
