Features: This book is compiled based on the rich achievements in the history of Chinese psychology. These achievements have provided convenient conditions for the writing of this book but have also presented us with an unresolved challenge: how to reflect the idea of "the later surpassing the former" or "the blue surpassing the green"? To address this, the book has considered the following points: (1) Organize the material along the development of psychological thought (theoretical viewpoints) rather than adopting a structure based on thinkers or specialized works to highlight the characteristics of the history of thought; (2) Only explore the development of theoretical and fundamental psychological thought, excluding the development of applied psychological thought, so that the issues can be thoroughly analyzed within the limited space; (3) Supplement certain psychological thoughts that were not previously discussed within the scope of the issues, such as Taoist psychological thought and Buddhist psychological thought; (4) Summarize some theoretical viewpoints of various psychological thoughts as much as possible to provide a comprehensive overview. The book's structure is quite rigorous, and the arguments are also relatively clear. The entire book is divided into five parts in chronological order: Pre-Qin Psychological Thought, Han, Wei, Six Dynasties Psychological Thought, Tang and Song Psychological Thought, Ming and Qing Psychological Thought, and Modern Psychological Thought. Each part is further divided into several chapters. The ancient parts discuss the basic viewpoints of psychological thought, psychological thought on knowledge and deliberation, psychological thought on emotion and will (or desire, intention), psychological thought on intelligence, and psychological thought on nature and habit, in order. Only the second and third parts have new chapters. The two chapters on modern psychology also expand on the development of psychological thought along its chronological order without discussing its developmental events. The book is divided into five parts, mainly introducing the psychological thought of Pre-Qin, Han, Wei, Six Dynasties, Tang and Song, Ming and Qing, and modern times.
