The criteria for the selection were roughly as follows: essays that demonstrated personal strength, life value, and intellectual brilliance; those that sincerely, vividly, and philosophically reflected on humanistic spirit; those that delicately depicted life scenes and conveyed psychological journeys; those that were fresh, pure, and elegant; and those that showed creative and innovative expression and language use.
