Features:
1. This selected works were compiled to accompany the teaching of A History of Contemporary Chinese Literature. However, they can also serve as a collection of contemporary literary works for literary enthusiasts and general readers.
2. The selected works in this anthology span from the early 1950s to the late 1990s, divided into two volumes (Volume 1 and Volume 2), arranged consecutively as two books. The primary criterion for selection is "literary quality," but from the perspective of teaching Chinese literary history, some works are also chosen for their value in reflecting literary trends.
3. Due to the limitations of this book's length, the selected works mainly include short poems, essays, and short stories, with some longer middle-length novels. Some middle-length novels and dramatic works are treated as excerpts. Many important middle-length and full-length novels and dramatic works are listed as "entries" at the end of each volume.
4. For works with different publication and writing dates, flexible arrangements are made in the organization. The key factor in determining the order is whether the work was read or had an impact at the time, forming a "literary phenomenon."
5. Since the literary phenomena of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and other regions are not within the scope of A History of Contemporary Chinese Literature, this selected works anthology also excludes the literary works of Taiwan during this period.
