Little Duck Yoyo is Qingqing's pet. Qingqing raised Yoyo from a puppy, and Qingqing loves Yoyo, and Yoyo loves Qingqing. Every day when Qingqing comes home from school, Yoyo would "close its eyes, lie down, stretch its neck, rest its yellow flat beak on Qingqing's wrist, chirping and cooing, in a dreamlike state of happiness." Qingqing and Yoyo share a bond of attachment and harmony. Love makes them happy and joyful, and it keeps them from feeling lonely. Later, Qingqing realizes that her Yoyo is not as skilled in dancing as Little Fat Pig's dog. She feels hurt and disappointed because she hopes her favorite Yoyo is the best. From then on, the love between Qingqing and Yoyo becomes complicated, and neither of them is happy anymore. Qingqing starts training Yoyo to dance on its toes, and she harshly beats Yoyo's feet with a transparent plastic ruler, frustrated by its lack of progress. Yoyo, in an effort to dance and to please its little owner, eventually collapses on the grass.
