Features: This book is primarily illustrated with images, supplemented by brief textual explanations. The illustrations are selected from seven specialized books, including Monuments Antiques, Fragments d'Architecture Antique, Edifices de la Renaissance Moderne, etc., featuring measured drawings and restoration plans of Western classical architecture (the illustrations of ancient Greek and Roman architecture are mainly restoration plans). The book has comprehensively adjusted the layout of the original illustrations, corrected minor errors in dimensions, and omitted dimensions that were unclear or could not be estimated. The arrangement of illustration numbers considers both the chronological order of architectural eras and classification factors. The floor levels noted in the book follow Western conventions, where the ground floor is understood as the first floor in Chinese terms, and the first floor is understood as the second floor in Chinese terms. The illustrations include major classical buildings from the ancient Greek, Roman, and Renaissance periods, as well as some classical and neoclassical buildings from the 17th century onwards. The text briefly summarizes the characteristics of Western classical architectural styles, outlines the development of these styles, and clarifies the main factors influencing them. This book can serve as a reference for teaching in architecture, art and design, and urban planning; it can also be used as design material for architects and designers, as well as reference material for architectural history researchers.
