Features: The New English-Chinese Dictionary contains over 50,000 entries, including derivative and compound words listed within the entries, resulting in a total of over 80,000 words (including basic vocabulary, general vocabulary, technical terms, abbreviations, foreign words, geographical names, etc.). Additionally, over 14,000 idioms (including a small number of proverbs) are included in relevant entries. Eight appendices, such as the Common British and American Names List, are compiled at the end of the book. The New English-Chinese Dictionary pays attention to including words and examples that reflect China's socialist revolution and socialist construction, while also incorporating common words that reflect Western capitalist society's politics and daily life. Furthermore, a certain number of new words and usages are selected from English and American dictionaries and newspapers from the United States and the United Kingdom. To balance the needs of understanding and usage, the definitions of words are appropriately expanded within the limits of a medium-sized dictionary, and the part of speech and syntactic relationships are clearly indicated through the wording of the definitions. For some difficult or commonly used words, additional examples are provided to illustrate their meanings and usage.
