What are the symptoms of pelvic inflammatory disease?

Patient's question:

A while ago, I often experienced severe pain in my lower abdomen, accompanied by fever. I initially thought it was because of the cold weather in winter and that my lower abdomen had caught a chill, so I strengthened my warmth measures. I didn't pay much attention to it, but a few days later, the condition worsened. When I went to the hospital for a thorough check-up, the doctor said I had pelvic inflammatory disease, but I had not noticed it myself.

Doctor's answer:

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is one of the common conditions seen in gynecology clinics. Once it recurs, it can cause significant disruption to a woman's health, and may even lead to infertility, posing a serious threat to the relationship between couples. Therefore, women must pay close attention to it. Symptoms such as excessive menstrual bleeding, menstrual disorders, and fallopian tube adhesion and blockage are the main manifestations of the disease. If a woman does not receive timely treatment after developing PID, it may result in infertility. When chronic inflammation leads to scar adhesion and pelvic congestion, symptoms such as lower abdominal heaviness, pain, and lower back pain may reappear in PID patients, especially during physical exertion, after intercourse, and before or after menstruation.
