Zhu Bajie shouted, "Quick, take us across the river!" A woman rowed the boat over. Tang Sanzang and his disciples boarded the ferry. The woman rowed the boat while smiling at them. After they reached the other side, Tang Sanzang saw the river water was clear and asked Zhu Bajie to scoop some for him to drink. Tang Sanzang took the bowl and drank half of it. Zhu Bajie finished the rest in one gulp. The four continued their journey, but suddenly Tang Sanzang's belly swelled. Zhu Bajie's belly also began to. They arrived at a house. The old woman saw Tang Sanzang and Zhu Bajie with swollen bellies and couldn't help laughing. The old woman said, "That river is the Mother and Child River. If you drink its water, you will become pregnant and give birth!" It turned out they had arrived in the Western Liang Kingdom of Women, where there were no men in the entire country! Tang Sanzang was stunned.
