Features: The Suwen is one of the earliest existing medical classics in China, holding extremely high academic value. The Quanyuan edition from the Southern Dynasties period of Qi and Liang represents an early transmission of The Suwen, largely preserving the original form as it existed during the Western Han Dynasty when Liu Xiang compiled the books. Unfortunately, this book was lost during the transition between the Northern and Southern Song Dynasties. The Suwen currently in circulation has been adapted by Wang Bing of the Tang Dynasty and corrected by Lin Yi and others of the Northern Song Dynasty, differing significantly from the original form of the early transmission. The value of this book lies not only in filling a major gap in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) scholarship but also in fully utilizing existing literature and employing methods such as etymology, textual criticism, and collation to conduct exhaustive comparative analysis, thereby restoring as much as possible the original appearance of the Quanyuan edition. In addition to the preface, this book consists of three parts: the first is a study of The Suwen and the Quanyuan edition, the second is the collated text and annotations of the Quanyuan edition, and the third is comparative materials on The Suwen and the Quanyuan edition. This book not only provides inspiration for scholars and researchers in TCM literature but also offers significant benefits for enthusiasts of TCM.
