"The Great Series of New Chinese Literature" is a collection of theories and works from the first decade (1917–1927) of the New Chinese Literature Movement, edited by Lu Xun, Mao Dun, and others. It was compiled and edited by Zhao Jiabi of Shanghai Liangyou Book Company and published between 1935 and 1936. The entire series is divided into ten volumes, with a preface written by Cai Yuanpei and introductions by the compilers: Volume I: "The Collection of Construction Theories" (compiled by Hu Shi), Volume II: "The Collection of Literary Debates" (compiled by Zheng Zhenduo), Volume III: "The First Collection of Fiction" (compiled by Mao Dun), Volume IV: "The Second Collection of Fiction" (compiled by Lu Xun), Volume V: "The Third Collection of Fiction" (compiled by Zheng Boqi), Volume VI: "The First Collection of Prose" (compiled by Zhou Zuoren), Volume VII: "The Second Collection of Prose" (compiled by Yu Dafu), Volume VIII: "The Collection of Poetry" (compiled by Zhu Ziqing), Volume IX: "The Collection of Drama" (compiled by Hong Shen), and Volume X: "Historical Materials and Indexes" (compiled by Ai Ying). In June 1981, twenty thousand sets were facsimile-reprinted based on the original books. At the request of readers, another three thousand sets were facsimile-reprinted in June 2003 based on the original books.
