Features: Yang Qianliang, a native of Beijing, went to the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps after the "Up to the Mountains and Down to the Countryside" movement. After the college entrance examination was restored, he enrolled in the Fine Arts Department of Xinjiang Normal University. In 1983, he returned to Tianjin and worked at the Tianjin Labor Economics School. His artistic activities have spanned from 1972 to the present, and he has won the Excellence Award in the Chinese Painting Competition officially approved by the cultural authorities. In 1999, he published papers titled "On Chinese Drama Character Painting" and "The Influence of Chan Buddhism Thought on Chinese Painting" in the China Fine Arts Newspaper. In 2002, he created the A Hundred Chinese Dramas series. That same year, his book How to Paint Chinese Drama Characters was published by Tianjin People's Fine Arts Publishing House. He was also selected for the 16th "New Talent and New Works Art Exhibition" and the "Welcome the Olympics" Art Exhibition, both organized by the China Artists Association.
