Features: Niu Zhongyuan, male, was born in Baizhou, Hebei Province in March 1953. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Hebei Normal University. He began teaching fine arts in 1976. In 1980, he studied Gongbi flower-and-bird painting under Professor Zhang Qi of the Petroleum Education Institute and Professor Huang Xianlong of the Central Academy of Arts and Design. In 1993, he graduated from the Gongbi Flower-and-Bird Painting Research Class of the Beijing Academy of Fine Arts, studying under Master Wang Qingsheng. In 1996, he furthered his studies in Chinese painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Currently, he serves as the Vice President of the Chinese Poetry, Calligraphy, and Painting Institute, a member of the Council of the East-West Artists Association, a member of the Beijing Heavy Color Painting Research Association, a member of the Hebei branch of the Chinese Artists Association, a member of the Chinese Petroleum Artists Association, and a first-class painter of the Chinese Petroleum Painting Academy. Since 1983, he has published over 200 Gongbi flower-and-bird paintings in publications such as Fine Arts, the People's Fine Arts Publishing House, and fine arts publishing houses in Heilongjiang, Sichuan, Anhui, and Guangxi. His peony works won a silver prize at the 6th National Nianhua Exhibition and a special prize at the World Chinese Fine Arts Exhibition. His works, including Spring Light Like Brocade, Graceful Charm, Early Spring in the Gobi, and Deep in the Banna, have been collected by Tiananmen, Zhongnanhai, the Maoshe Memorial Hall, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the China Foreign Exhibitions Company. They have also been included in The Collection of Tiananmen, The Collection of Zhongnanhai, Hebei Flower-and-Bird Painting, 94 Chinese Painting Fine Art Collection, Fine Arts Annual, 20th Century International Fine Art Collection, and A Legacy of Dedication: Anti-Poverty Fine Art Collection. His name is recorded in The Great Dictionary of Contemporary Chinese Artists. He participated in the China Art Fair from 1997 to 2001, the Shanghai Art Fair in 1997 and 2001, and the Beijing Art Fair in 2001. Tianjin People's Fine Arts Publishing House published Ink Wash Flowers (Volume 1 and 2) and Niu Zhongyuan's Fine Art of Gongbi Heavy Color.
