Is cervical hyperplasia necessarily treated with cone biopsy?

Patient's question:

Hello doctor. Is cervical hypertrophy necessarily required to undergo a cone biopsy? Does the cone biopsy remove the hypertrophic part while preserving the cervix? Will it cause cervical relaxation? What are the pros and cons of surgery or no surgery? Thank you for your reply.

Doctor's answer:

Cervical hyperplasia is a type of chronic cervical inflammation. It is caused by inflammatory changes in the cervical mucosa due to pathogen transmission. Simple cervical hyperplasia will never interfere with pregnancy, but severe cervical inflammation can lead to endometritis, tubo-ovarian inflammation, tubal adhesion, resulting in infertility. Physical therapy is suitable for moderate and severe disorders and is currently the most effective and shortest course of treatment, generally requiring only one session to self-heal.
