Patient's question:
I had sexual activity around October 5th and got my period on October 12th. On October 30th, I had a high fever with symptoms of lower back pain and swelling. The fever subsided on November 3rd, and the symptoms disappeared. I got my period again on November 11th, with no sexual activity in between these two periods. Today is the third day of my period, and I'm experiencing some lower abdominal pain. Additionally, I don't have any other symptoms! I want to ask the doctor what's wrong with me?Doctor's answer:
For the symptoms you described, the possibility of ectopic pregnancy is low. Ectopic pregnancy typically presents with early pregnancy symptoms first, including missed periods and early pregnancy symptoms. (However, some women may experience 1-2 menstrual periods during early pregnancy, but the bleeding is usually lighter and lasts longer.) Additionally, a careful ultrasound examination did not show intrauterine early pregnancy, but blood HCG levels were elevated. Regarding the abdominal pain you experienced on the third day of your period, it is likely a symptom of dysmenorrhea, possibly caused by inflammation. If the pain is severe, you can visit a hospital for a blood HCG test. If the levels are elevated, further ultrasound examination may be necessary.
