Patient's question:
I gave birth to my daughter via cesarean section on July 30th last year (horizontal incision). Now the scar is pink, about 2mm above the skin, and sometimes it itches. What is the matter? Is there any medicine that can treat it?Doctor's answer:
The hypertrophic phase of scar formation lasts approximately three to twelve months. Gradually, fibrosis of the fibrous tissue ceases, and the scar becomes flatter and softer. The color changes to dark brown. At this stage, the scar may again experience itching and pain, with itching being particularly pronounced. Especially during heavy sweating or weather changes, the itching can become so intense that it feels unbearable until the scar's surface is scratched open and bleeds before relief is felt. Don’t worry, the itching of the scar will gradually subside on its own over time.
