Features: The major consulting project of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, "Research on the Water Resources Strategy for Sustainable Development in China," is divided into seven topics: water resources assessment and supply-demand balance analysis, flood control and disaster reduction strategies, agricultural water demand and the construction of water-saving high-efficiency agriculture, urban water resources utilization and protection, water pollution control, ecological environment construction and water resources protection and utilization, water resources allocation in northern China and the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, and water resources development and utilization in western China. After nearly two years of intensive work by 43 academicians from the two academies and nearly 300 external experts, a series of major research results have been achieved, including eight thematic reports, which were compiled into a comprehensive report. "The Report Collection on the Research on the Water Resources Strategy for Sustainable Development in China" (hereinafter referred to as "The Report Collection") is divided into nine volumes, gathering the series of research results of this project. This book is Volume 4 of "The Report Collection," divided into two parts and comprising 13 chapters. Following the logic of population, demand, water demand, water supply, and water conservation, it provides a comprehensive and in-depth elaboration on the issues facing China's agricultural water use and the pathways for the construction of water-saving high-efficiency agriculture, proposing an overall strategy for agricultural water use and the development of water-saving high-efficiency agriculture. The research results of this project hold significant reference value for decision-making by governments at all levels. The research work of the "Research on the Water Resources Strategy for Sustainable Development in China" project and the publication of "The Report Collection" have received strong support from the State Council leadership and relevant ministries and commissions. Premier Wen Jiabao wrote a preface for "The Report Collection."
