Patient's question:
Your friend had her period on the 17th of the month and didn't come on the 17th of the following month. Today, 15 days later, she went for a thorough check-up. The urine test confirmed pregnancy, but the ultrasound couldn't detect it. During the period from the 29th of January to the 13th of February, we were apart. Please help me guess, did we get pregnant before the 29th of January? Or is it an ectopic pregnancy? The doctor said it could be too early to detect, or it might be an ectopic pregnancy. What are the chances of it being an ectopic pregnancy?Doctor's answer:
The situation you mentioned means you are currently 45 days pregnant. At this point, an ultrasound should be able to detect the gestational sac. However, if you did an ultrasound and didn't see the gestational sac, that is not normal. It is recommended that you have another ultrasound check in about a week. Because generally, if you are about 40 days pregnant, the gestational sac should be visible through ultrasound. The latest it should take to see a fetal pole and primitive heart tube is 6 to 8 weeks.
